In July 2012 Wil and Brian, who had been together for many years, decided to formally commit their lives to each other and married in New York. The following month they had a vow renewal ceremony in Raleigh to celebrate with their family and friends in their own home town. I was the lucky minister they chose to create their ceremony with them and what a happy time that was for me. The depth of caring, wit and sincere emotion in their love was reflected in the vows they wrote to each other and none of us there will ever forget it. Many of us were choking back tears from the mix of our laughter and tender feelings. Remarkable.
I never did get to see their photos after the ceremony, unfortunately, but fast forward a few months and I was contacted yesterday by Leah Campbell of Southern Bride & Groom - a premiere wedding magazine here in North Carolina - telling me that Wil and Brian’s NC vow renewal was being featured in the Southern Bride & Groom blog. Of course I went over there right away to check it out and what a great blog post it is!! It features great photos by Kevin Milz Photography and all the photos here are by Kevin from that same blog post.
During the ceremony, each of their mothers held her son’s wedding ring and Kevin got this photo of the blessing of the rings while the mothers held the rings up to me. I always love the ring blessing moment and for this particular ceremony it was especially poignant.
It was a very special evening in so many ways. Wil and Brian are partners in Blue-17, a successful event design and planning firm that includes travel to exotic locales, so they knew how to make the celebration that followed the ceremony exactly what they wanted. Vegas anyone?
You should definitely treat yourself and head over to the Southern Bride and Groom Blog to check out the rest of this happy story.
Wil and Brian, I hope your life continues to be full of the love, laughter, friendship and fun that have made your lives so rich. It was an honor to be a part of this next chapter in your love story.
