Mikki and Hector Celebrate Their First Wedding Anniversary with Love Letters and Coca Colas

Mikki and Hector’s friendship began with conversations and shared Coca Colas and for their wedding they created a beautiful, heartfelt celebration at the Preston-Woodall House in Benson, NC. We incorporated references to those happy Cokes into the ceremony, including an anniversary box with love letters to be opened on their first anniversary and - of course - there were bottles of Coke placed in the box to share together when they read the letters.

Fast forward a year and today on Facebook, Mikki posted a note about their anniversary (can’t believe it’s been a year already!!) and she included this link to a video of their wedding, created by Twenty One Films. Among other things, the video showcases the poem Mikki wrote to Hector entitled, “Sharing a Coke with You,” which was read at their wedding.

I never saw the video after their wedding so seeing it today, on their anniversary, was a nice bit of serendipity. It was great to see the wedding and poem again and the video brought back lots of happy memories. Hector is such a quiet guy, but his heart and emotions obviously run as deep as Mikki’s and it was so sweet to watch their faces as the poem was read.

Enjoy the short video - you are sure to be touched by it.

Happy first Anniversary, Mikki and Hector - and many more happy years to come! Enjoy reading your wedding day love letters and sharing those Coca Colas.

Here is a link to my blog post about their wedding. Their wedding and reception were a wonderful combination of DIY creativity, fun, love, family and friends. It was a perfect celebration of life and love and I will never forget that touching moment when they sent balloons aloft with their letters to family members who had passed on. Since that day, I can’t see a balloon in the sky without thinking of that sweet moment of touching family love and remembrance.
