Their style is quiet elegance and everything about their wedding showed this in abundance, from Trish’s simple, elegant dress, her gorgeous bouquet, their floral arrangements, the sparse yet compelling iron candle holder aisle decorations that allowed the beautiful wedding garden at The Umstead Hotel and Spa to shine in all its natural beauty. The florals were created from Trish’s designs by Steven Taras of Watered Garden Florist, who does all of The Umstead’s floral decorations. His work is always amazing and with Trish’s designs to work with, it was even more so.
During the ceremony, Trish and Rob wanted to honor Rob’s father and all their grandparents, who had all passed on, and it was a sweet remembrance. They also had set up photos and candles by the reception area in their honor.
For the ceremony they included a Unity Candle to represent their two lives joining together. I love the gorgeous floral arrangements around the candles.
Because the ceremony was close to Easter, notice the cute display of guest favors.
These are the lovely place cards that matched the pattern on the ceremony program.
And check out these beautiful table centerpieces - the pink one being for the Bride and Groom’s table.
This is the beautiful wedding cake, but I did not get he name of the baker, unfortunately. Such a pretty bow on the top and simple decorations along the sides.
This wedding was about their love and romance and Trish and Rob wrote their own, beautiful vows. They also chose for their wedding music selections from the movie, Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightly version). I have seen all the movie versions but never really noticed the musical scores. I should have, though, because it was absolutely perfect for this romantic wedding. When Trish and Rob exited the ceremony to the strains of “Mrs Darcy,” I couldn’t help but have a smile in my heart watching them go.
But they didn’t go far... once they got past the chairs, they stopped and I invited all the guests to join them in the back for a group photo! Here is a picture of their photographer, Steve McCaw, a story above us, trying to get everyone together for the photo. Can’t wait to see his photos from the wedding!
The DJ for the reception was Mark McNally of Joe Bunn DJ Company. Mark and I have worked together before so I know he was going to keep things moving for the rest of the evening.
Trish and Rob, it was a delight to get to know you and to help you create your beautiful wedding. And what fun it was to watch your Facebook photo posts from your honeymoon! I know you are going to have a beautiful life together and I also know that I will never be able to watch Pride and Prejudice again without thinking of the two of you.
