Leigh Ann and Mark Become Husband and Wife at The Rand-Bryan House in Garner

It was a GLORIOUS day for a wedding! The sun was shining, the weather was springtime-warm and beautiful and Leigh Ann and Mark were every bit as glowing as the day. After so much cold weather this winter, it was a welcome respite for a wedding day and a fine omen of things to come for Leigh Ann and Mark.

They chose as their wedding location the very special Rand-Bryan House in Garner. A renovated farm-style house located not far from where they both work (and their reception location), The Clubhouse Restaurant, it was a perfect setting for the glowing couple and the glowing day.

Here is the front of the house

And the back.

All around the house are open fields and a Christmas Tree farm. It has a wonderful open, airy feeling and fit Leigh Ann and Mark’s personalities perfectly.

When they initially decided on The Rand-Bryan House for their wedding, they did not know it was going to be such a beautiful day so they had planned for the wedding to be held in the bright, cheery and inviting sunroom of the house. I absolutely love this room because even in overcast weather the light just sparkles in there.

They had decorated the room with beautiful flowers and ferns ( I did not get the name of the florist, unfortunately) and put rose petals on the floor along the aisle. It was simple, elegant and beautiful.

On hand from The Rand-Bryan House was Martha Bryan Liles, the owner and Manager, and as usual she did a wonderful job of making sure everything was ready for Leigh Ann and Mark’s special day. After the wedding, I noticed Martha was speaking with an engaged couple who had attended the wedding. They were so taken with the place that they had approached her about it. Hope they have their wedding there. They are sure to love it if they do. (Update 2/27/11 - they did sign for their wedding in May of this year - smart couple!)

The DJ for the day was Rick Barefoot of Absolute Entertainment. He was very professional and you could tell he knew what he was doing. Music is such an integral part of a wedding and he was a real asset for the event. Here he is standing behind his equipment.

Taking all the great photos of the day were Sue Mitchiner and Johnny Johnson of Zoom in Photography.  (Their website is currently undergoing renovations so the link will take you to their email. I will update it when their site is back online.) Here’s a touching shot taken by Sue as the newly married couple headed back out the aisle.

Sue and Johnny were also very skilled at getting everyone organized for photos after the wedding so people could head on over to the reception. Bet all those in the photos really appreciated that.

As I was leaving after the wedding, I noticed the Bride’s dressing room was awash in sunlight and couldn’t resist snapping a couple of photos. It’s such a nice room for getting ready for a wedding.

Leigh Ann and Mark, I really enjoyed being a part of your wedding day and know you are going to be very happy together. May all your dreams come true in unique and wonderful ways.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day always brings to mind images of couples in love, chocolate treats, colorful candy and tenderness. It’s the most romantic of all our holidays and from childhood we have immersed ourselves in its sweetness every year.

There are as many different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day as there are people who share a love, but how did the tradition begin in the first place? It is always fun to learn about the evolution of our traditions and I came across an interesting article about the history of Valentine’s Day. Written by Terri Wilks of the Davis County Clipper, it’s a cute little informative piece that’s an enjoyable read. Here’s the link.

However you celebrate your Valentine’s Day, may it be so special this year that it remains a treasured memory in your heart.

Smiles and Balloons - Fun Engagement Photos for Melissa and Ryan by Photographer Hilton Pittman

It isn’t often that I get to see engagement photos of the couples I marry unless they are included at the wedding in some way. But I recently received a clever magnetic Save-the-Date card (great idea!) and a link to Melissa and Ryan’s engagement photos at about the same time. When I saw the balloons on the Save-the-Date card I went right away to go see the photos. What a happy set of pictures and the addition of the balloons fits Melissa and Ryan perfectly. Congrats to their photographer, Hilton Pittman, of Hilton Pittman Photography, to think of such a fun addition. I can just imagine the three of them walking around historic downtown Apex with the balloons and all the smiles that must have generated from onlookers.

Melissa and Ryan met by pure serendipity. About three years ago, Melissa was planning to move to another state and was having a going away party. Ryan, who didn’t know Melissa at the time, was asked by friends to go with them to the party and Melissa and Ryan met that night. Melissa never did move after meeting Ryan and their wedding in June of this year is going to be the four year anniversary of their first “official date.”

Such a great story and such a great couple. I am looking forward to their wedding, which will be held at The Sutherland Estate and Gardens in Wake Forest.

With their crazy-busy schedules, they are still managing to find the time to put together a special wedding about their love for each other and their family and friends. I was very touched by the things they wanted to include when we sat down together to create the framework for their ceremony. It’s going to be a wonderful ceremony and celebration and their family and friends are going to love it.

Hilton’s photos are so great and I swear the blue balloons seem to match the color of Melissa’s eyes! If you’d like to go check out Hilton’s blog for yourself, here is a link to his post about the engagement photos. His photos from the wedding are sure to be magical.

Update - Jan 2012 - Melissa and Ryan’s wedding was on a sunny, spectacular day in June 2011 and their DIY decorations were cheery, colorful (I LOVE yellow!) and included endearing touches - not to mention celebrating the long marriages of their parents and grandparents. It was a great day and here is a link to the blog post I wrote about it.

Their wedding was so special that it was chosen by The Knot North Carolina magazine for a featured article in the their Spring / Summer 2012 edition. Here is a link to the blog post I wrote about their being featured in the magazine. Congratulations to Melissa, Ryan and their photographer, Hilton Pittman.
